"Jesus said to her, 'I am the Resurrection and the Life. The one who believes in Me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in Me will never die. Do you believe this?” John 11:25-26
When Jesus spoke these words, He was standing in the shadow of a grave.
Lazarus, His friend, had been dead for four days. Martha and Mary were grieving. Hope seemed lost. The situation appeared final. Everyone believed the story was over. But Jesus had something greater in mind. Before He raised Lazarus from the dead, Jesus made one of the most powerful declarations in all of Scripture:
"I am the Resurrection and the Life."
Notice that Jesus did not say, "I can perform a resurrection." He did not say, "I know about life." He said, "I am the Resurrection and the Life."
Resurrection is not merely something Jesus does. It is who He is. Life is not merely something He gives. It is found in Him. This truth reaches far beyond physical death.
Every one of us has experienced situations that feel lifeless. Broken relationships. Lost dreams. Disappointments. Failures. Seasons of grief. Moments when hope seems buried beneath the weight of our circumstances. We have all stood before something that looked impossible and wondered if anything good could ever come from it again.
Jesus specializes in bringing life where others see only death. He brings hope to despair. He brings healing to brokenness. He brings purpose to pain. He brings restoration to what seems beyond repair.
The same power that called Lazarus out of the tomb is the power that raised Jesus from the dead. It is the power that still transforms lives today.
Sometimes God allows us to face situations that exceed our abilities so that we can discover the greatness of His power. What appears to be an ending may simply be the place where God is preparing a resurrection.
The empty tomb reminds us that death does not have the final word. Fear does not have the final word. Failure does not have the final word. The grave does not have the final word. Jesus does.
Because He conquered death, those who place their faith in Him have the promise of eternal life. We do not grieve as those without hope. We serve a risen Savior who has defeated sin, death, and the grave forever.
No matter what you are facing today, remember this: If Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life, then no situation is beyond His power, no heart is beyond His reach, and no circumstance is beyond His ability to redeem.
Good Morning Lord,
Thank You that no situation is too difficult for You and no circumstance is beyond Your power. Help me trust You when things seem hopeless and remind me that You are still working even when I cannot see it. Fill my heart with faith, strengthen my hope, and help me rest in the promise that Jesus has conquered death and gives eternal life to all who believe in Him. You are the Resurrection and the Life. In Jesus name,
